Lancers knock off Badgers, set to host OUA West Final on Wednesday night

Reaney's 18 points help lead Windsor past Brock 73-65 in OUA West Semi-Finals

Box Score The Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team defeated the Brock Badgers 73-65 in the OUA West Semi-Finals on Saturday night at the St. Denis Centre.

With the victory, the Lancers will now host the OUA West Championship game on Wednesday night at 7pm against the Western Mustangs.

The OUA West Championship game against the Mustangs will be carried live locally on TVCogeco and will also be webcast live on the internet at http://www.ssncanada.ca

On Saturday night, the Lancers got 18 points from Shavaun Reaney, 15 points from Jessica Clemencon and 14 points from Emily Abbott as they defeated the Badgers 73-65.

The Badgers came out playing hard as they used strong defensive play and agressive rebounding to take a 15-14 first quarter lead.

The Lancers had trouble containing Brock's Whitney Gorges as she struck for a game-high 22 points and helped her team extend their lead at halftime to 36-33.

In the third, Windsor completely took over as they found their rhythm on offense and picked up their defensive pressure to take over the lead. They outscored Laurier 33-12 in the quarter to take a commanding 66-43 lead.

Brock tried to battle their way back in the fourth quarter but it was too late as they Lancers earned the 73-65 victory.

Fifth year senior point guard Shavaun Reaney led the Lancer attack with 18 points and 6 assists.

Windsor will now begin preparations for their huge OUA West Championship final game against their rivals, the Western Mustangs on Wednesday night at the St. Denis Centre. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
