The Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team came on step close to the defence of their OUA Championship title on Saturday after knocking off the Brock Badgers 73-65 in the OUA West Semi-Finals Saturday night.
With the win the Lancers now advance to the OUA West Division finals on Wednesday, March 3rd for the second straight season, where they will once again meet their rivals the Western Mustangs.
On Saturday against Brock, the Lancers received big performances from the trio of Shavaun Reaney, Jessica Clemencon, and Emily Abbott. Reaney led the way with 18 points and 6 assists to lift the Lancers past the Badgers.
The Mustangs are coming off of an 84-58 victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday in the OUA west semi-final. Saturday saw Western's Katelyn Leddy drop 17 points on the game to lead the Mustangs to victory.
The Mustangs finished second in the OUA west division right behind the Lancers with a 17-5 record.
In the regular season, the Lancers handled the Mustangs, cruising to a 94-81 victory at home in January and an 85-75 win a few weeks later on the road.
The Lancers will look to use their size advantage against the Mustangs on Wedesday and continue to exploit the oppositions defence with their highly potent two post offence.
Tip-off is set for 7pm on Wednesday at the St. Denis Centre. The game can also be watched live on TVCogeco Cable 11 and on webcast at www.ssncanada.ca.
