Lancer Football standouts
Evan Pszczonak and
Stephon Miller were both selected in Tuesday night's Canadian Football League Draft.
Pszczonak, a fourth year senior from Amherstburg, Ontario and a product of General Amherst High School was slected in the fifth round by the Toronto Argonauts. The six-foot-three wideout is coming off a tremendous 2013 season that saw him named a CIS All-Canadian and an OUA First Team All-Star. He finished the year fifth in the nation with 646 receiving yards on 42 catches to go along with six touchdowns.
"It's surreal and a dream come true," Pszczonak said. "I was a little nervous last night but I'm very happy to be going to Toronto. It's close to home and when I was a kid, I used to watch Toronto games and it was like rooting for the home team."
Pszczonak spoke with the Argonauts at the CFL Combine in March and again on Monday. He'll report to rookie camp on May 27th.
Miller, also a fourth year senior from Pickering, Ontario and a product of Pine Ridge High School was selected four picks later by the expansion Ottawa Redblacks. The defensive lineman was the first pick of the sixth round.
"I was trying not to get my hopes up," said Miller. "Something like this happens and it's huge. I think there's going to be more opportunity to play with an expansion team as opposed to another more established team. I'm just going to go in and compete hard."
Congratulations to both Evan and Stephon on their CFL Draft selection!
