Windsor Lancer track & field alumni Noelle Montcalm and Melissa Bishop have had impressive performances this week at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland
On Thursday, Montcalm ran a 56.74 in the women's 400m final to originally place seventh overall. However, disqualifications from runners from Nigeria and Russia moved the Belle River native into fifth position. Montcalm qualified for the final with a similar time of 56.72 in the semi-finals on Wednesday afternoon.
As part of Canada's women's 4x400m relay team, Montcalm also helped the Canadian team to a fifth place finish in the Commonwealth final with a time of 3:32.45. The Red & White ran a time of 3:31.02 in the semi-finals on Friday to qualify for Saturday's final.
Bishop rounded out competition on Friday afternoon with an eighth place finish in the women's 800m. She finished the very tight final in a time of 2:02.61. The 2012 Canadian Olympian placed second in her semi-final heat with a time of 2:01.86 on Thursday to qualify for the final.
Congratulations Noelle and Melissa on exceptional performances!
