Meet the New Faces of Lancer Women's Basketball

The five-time national champion Lancer women's basketball team has a sea of fresh new faces on the roster for the 2015-16 season.
 
The team's title defense begins this Wednesday, November 4th when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at 6:00pm at the St. Denis Centre. Prior to tip-off, the Lancers will recognize the 2014-15 championship squad by presenting them with their championship rings and raising the CIS banner into the rafters.

Orian Amsalem
 
Orian joins the Lancers for the 2015/16 season from Ashdod, Israel, where she attended high school at Nahalal. While in Israel, the 5'10 forward won the National Cup in 2010/11 and played professional basketball for Hope G.B.A in Geneva. She was awarded the Premier League Rookie of the Year honours for the 2012/2013 season. Orian is studying Business Administration and Economics and plans to become a successful business woman while continuing to play basketball.
 
Kaylee Anagnostopoulos
 
The Lancers welcome 5'7 guard Kaylee Anagnostopoulos to the 2015/16 team. Kaylee attended Waterloo Collegiate Institute where she was a stand-out athlete. During her time at WCI, she was awarded the 2014/15 Athlete of the Year, 2013/14 WCSSAA First Team All-Star, 2013/14 High School Athlete of the Year, and the 2012/13 WCSSAA All-Star Honourable Mention. Also during high school, she won 3 CWOSSA Regional Championship medals (2 gold, 1 silver) and 2 WCSSAA City Championship medals (gold and silver). Kaylee played club basketball for the Tri-County Thunder of the JUEL League of Ontario, where her team won the 2014/2014 Championships. Her team won the silver medal at the 2013/14 JUEL Championships. Kaylee will be studying Forensic Science at Windsor.
 
 Chuot Angou
 
5'5 guard Chuot Angou joins the Lancers from John Paul II Catholic Secondary in London ON. She was awarded Team MVP in 2015, and made the 2015 Academic Honour Roll for maintaining an 80% or above average. During her time as a JP II Jaguar she also won multiple high school Tournament MVP's. Chuot played club basketball for London CYO. She is enrolled in Psychology at the University and plans to pursue a career that combines both law and psychology (Forensics Psychologist).
 
Tyra Blizzard
 
The Lancers welcome 5'7 guard Tyra Blizzard to the 2015/16 team. Blizzard comes to Windsor from Ottawa, ON where she attended high school at St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School. She won her school's athlete of year in 2010/2011, 2012/13 and 2014/15. She was also awarded the 2015 Coyote Cup Award, which recognizes 4 years of outstanding athletic contribution to St. Francis Xavier. Tyra also received the Varsity Girls Basketball MVP and the Varsity Girls Touch Football MVP from 2010-2015. Tyra played club basketball for the Ottawa Nationals and was selected to the 2015 League All-Star Team. Blizzard is studying Human Kinetics at the University in pursuit of a career in Athletic Therapy.
 
Alyssa Cerino
 
6'0 forward Alyssa Cerino joins Windsor for her first year of university basketball; hailing from Hamilton, ON where she attended high school at Cardinal Newman. In grade 10, Alyssa was awarded the Basketball MVP and Athlete of the Year for her school.  In her final year of high school, Alyssa won the Basketball MVP, Soccer MVP and Athlete of the Year awards. Alyssa played club basketball for Blessed Sacrament in the JUEL League of Ontario. She is enrolled in Sociology at the University.
 
Jahnae Gyles
 
5'7 guard Jahnae Gyles comes to Windsor from St Paul Secondary School in Mississauga where she had a decorated athletic career. Jahnae was named MVP in track and field, soccer and basketball and was also awarded Volleyball's Most Improved Player and overall Athlete of the Year. Gyles played club basketball for the Brampton Warriors of JUEL. She is enrolled at the Odette School of Business with a minor in communications. After University she wishes to pursue a career as a high school teacher.
 
Erica McFadden
 
Erica is entering her third season of CIS basketball. Reigning from Fergus, ON the 5'7 guard played 2 seasons with the Guelph Gryphons before transferring to Windsor and red shirting the 2014/15 season as per eligibility transfer rules. Before University, Erica played for Centre Wellington District High School where she made the Honour Roll and Ontario Scholar lists in her final year. She was also named the 2011-2012 District 10 City League MVP and from 2009-2012 was named a High School Basketball League All-Star. From 2009-2011, Erica was a member of the Ontario Provincial Woman's Basketball Team and was also rewarded the 2009-2010 Female Athlete of the Year. Erica played club basketball for Tri-County Thunder and was named to the 2012 JUEL League All-Star team. Erica plans to study Psychology at the University of Windsor.
 
 
Kashawnna Sampson
 
The Lancers Women's Basketball team would like to welcome Kashawnna Sampson to the 2015/16 team. A 5'7 guard from Detroit, Michigan, Kashawnna attended Cass Technical High School where she was named to the High School Detroit All-City team in 2013. She went on to the play at Mercyhurst University North East Campus for 2 seasons and was named to the All-Region 2nd team in 2014 and All-Region 3rd team in 2015 by the board members of NJCAA. Kashawnna plans to study Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at the University of Windsor and wishes to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
