Hamlin adds Andy Delmore to coaching staff

Kevin Hamlin, Head Coach of the Windsor Lancers Men's Hockey team is pleased to announce the addition of Andy Delmore to his coaching staff for the 2015-16 season.

A LaSalle native, Delmore most recently spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the OHL's Sarnia Sting.

Delmore brings outstanding experience to the Lancer program as both a player and coach, having played 16 seasons of professional hockey. His playing career included parts of seven seasons in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators, Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets.

"We are thrilled to be able to add Andy as an assistant coach for next season," commented Coach Hamlin. He brings outstanding credentials and experience to our program and his extensive playing career in the National Hockey League brings instant credibility with our players."

Delmore's NHL playing career included a number of highlights, including scoring a hat trick in the 2000 Eastern Conference Semifinals as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. He also recorded a pair of 16-goal and 18-goal campaigns with the Nashville Predators. He played a combined 303 NHL regular-season and playoff games throughout his career.

Andy also spent time in Europe, including two seasons in Germany's DEL as a member of the Hamburg Freezers as well as parts of two more seasons in Austria and Italy.

The Lancers are coming off an outstanding 2014-15 season that saw Coach Hamlin's squad finish first overall in the province with a 22-4-1 record, which tied for the most single season wins in program history. The Lancers also earned a top-10 ranking nationally for 17 straight weeks while capturing an OUA bronze medal and earning a second consecutive trip to the CIS national championships.

Individually, the team received tremendous national recognition as senior forward Spencer Pommells, a native of Grande Prairie, Alta., became the first Lancer to claim the Joseph A. Sullivan Trophy as CIS player of the year and only the third Windsor player to capture a CIS major award in men's hockey. Forwards Chris Gignac (1999) and Ken Minello (1989) had previously merited the R.W. Pugh Award presented annually to the most sportsmanlike player.

In addition, Kenny Bradford was named the OUA Defenseman of the year and a CIS All-Canadian after he led the country in scoring by a defenceman with 28 points, scoring eight goals and adding 20 assists. He was a key cog in the Lancers third-ranked power play, scoring six of his eight goals on the man advantage.

Senior netminder Parker Van Buskirk was named the OUA goaltender of the year after he led the conference with 20 wins and made the second most starts of any goaltender with 24. His 2.86 goals against average was the second-best of any western conference goalie, and his .904 save percentage was sixth best overall.

Dylan Denomme was named the OUA West rookie of the year as he finished second on the Lancers in points with 31, scoring 13 goals and 18 assists, while appearing in all 27 games. He led all CIS rookies in scoring and tied Bradford for the team lead with six power play goals as well.

Coach Hamlin was recognized for his tremendous work as he was named the OUA coach of the year after his Lancer team won more games than any other team in the province and closed the regular season ranked No. 7 in the CIS Top 10 rankings.

Delmore will join Coach Hamlin and his staff this weekend (July 10-12) as the Lancers host their annual recruit weekend at Central Park Athletics in Windsor. Please contact Coach Hamlin for a weekend itinerary of events.
