Game 2 Preview:
It's do or die for the Lancer women's hockey team tonight as the visiting Gryphons hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three quarterfinal series. A win for the Blue & Gold sends the game back to Guelph Sunday afternoon for a series deciding game three with the winner moving on to the OUA semifinals. This is the third in seven days that these teams have faced off. The Gryphons won the regular season contest last Saturday and shut out the Lancers 3-0 on Wednesday night in the first game of the series, despite the Blue & Gold out shooting the Gryphons 27-17. The Lancers will need to figure out Gryphon goaltender Valerie Lamenta if they plan on extending their season past Sunday. Lamenta was second overall in the OUA during the regular season with a 1.38 goals against average. Coach Hunter will look to starting goaltender
Morgan Farrow, as well as his top line of
Shawna Lesperance,
Erinn Noseworthy and OUA scoring champion
Krystin Lawrence to lead the Blue & Gold on home ice and force a series deciding game three.

It's anybody's game here today at the St. Denis Centre. The Lancers finished just above the fifth seed Rams in the RPI in fourth, and the two squads split the pair of games they faced off in throughout the season. Windsor defeated the Rams at the Darcel Wright Memorial Tournament, while Ryerson narrowly edged the Lancers in their regular season meeting. The Lancers are led by fourth year standout
Emily Prevost who is averaging 14.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Junior guard
Carly Steer will also be looked to lead the Lancers offensive charge. As first off the bench for Coach Vallee, Steer finished the regular season averaging 12 points per game. Ryerson is coming off a 78-52 win over the York Lions in the first round of the post season on Wednesday. Five Rams hit double digits in the win and were led by freshman Emma Fraser and Sofia Paska who each put up 17 points.

It's been quite the week for the Blue & Gold. In the first round of the OUA playoffs last week, the sixth seeded Lancers came from behind to defeat the third ranked Laurier Golden Hawks to advance to the quarter-finals against the Rams. After falling in overtime last Wednesday in Waterloo,
Blake Richard and the Lancers shut out the visiting Hawks 1-0 in game two at South Windsor Arena to tie the series and force a series deciding game three on Saturday. Once again it took overtime to determine the victor, yet this time it was the Lancers who came out on top as
Tyson Ness potted the winning goal advancing Windsor to the quarter-finals. The Rams also had their hands full last week going three games against the Waterloo Warriors to advance to this week's series. In their two previous meetings this season the Rams won both contests against the Blue & Gold, so the Lancers will be looking for revenge this week. In order to do so, Windsor will need to keep an eye on Michael Fine who currently leads the Rams with 5 points and continue to play a solid defensive game. Windsor is currently second in save percentage at .950%.
