The Lancer men's track & field team brought home a bronze medal from the OUA Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at York University in Toronto. The Lancer women also had a strong competition, placing fourth overall.
Jill VanDamme opened day two of competition capturing her first OUA medal with a bronze medal performance in the women's shot put with a season's best throw of 17.00m.
Sarah Mitton placed fourth in the event with a personal best toss of 16.60m.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Courteney Rivait,
Stephanie Shaw,
Kristy Hodgins, and
Alexia Lamothe placed second overall with a time of 3:48.73. On the men's side of the relay, the 4x200m team of
Tyler Hopkins,
Chris Kramer,
Matt McKeegan, and
Jaiden Brown also brought home a silver medal with a time of 1:28.66.
Christopher Waugh had the most impressive result of the day claiming gold in the men's pole vault setting a new Lancer school record with a first place height of 5.11m.
Corey Bellemore also brought home a bronze medal in the men's 600m with a time of 1:19.25.
The Lancers will now be off until March 9-11, 2017 when they travel to Edmonton for the U SPORTS national championships.
