Noelle Montcalm was named to the CIS Academic Top 8
Windsor Lancers Track and Field star Noelle Montcalm has been named to the prestigious Canadian University Sport Academic Top 8 for the 2008-09 season, as announced today by the CIS.

Every year, CIS student-athletes are recognized as Academic All-Canadians, having maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 80 percent or better over the academic year while competing for one of their university's varsity teams. Once again in 2008-09, over 2,000 student-athletes reached the prestigious status.

Among these outstanding individuals, one female and one male from each CIS regional association are selected annually as Top 8 Academic All-Canadians.

Montcalm, a Windsor native, led her hometown Lancers to the CIS Women's Track and Field National Championship in 2008-09 and was also named the OUA Female Athlete of the Year in track events.

The recipient of the Dr. Frank DeMarco Award as the female who best combines academic and athletic excellence, Montcalm is currently in her fourth year in Nursing.

She is a three-time CIS Academic All-Canadian and a member of the University of Windsor's Dean's List for three consecutive years.

Overall, the Lancers have an amazing 50 athletes named CIS Academic All-Canadians for the 2008-09 seasons. They'll be honoured at a special CIS Academic All-Canadian luncheon held by University of Windsor Vice-President Academic, Dr. Kathleen McCrone this Wednesday, November 4th.
