Head Coach Chantal Vallée is pleased to announce the commitment of Emily Prevost to the Women's Basketball program for the 2013-14 season.
As one of the top athletes coming out of CEGEP this year, the 6'0 forward was voted the team's most improved player, and the recipient of the Delmar Award, given to the athlete demonstrating leadership and character, for the 2011-12 season.
Prevost, a native of Montreal, Quebec, is currently the leading scorer in the Quebec Conference, averaging 19.1 points per game, placing her ninth overall in Canada. She also leads the conference in rebounds per game with 11.78, good for fifth in Canada.
Vallée is very pleased to be adding an athlete of Prevost's character and athletic ability to the Lancers already strong roster. “I am thrilled to have Emily joining us. It has been a while since we have had a player from Quebec, and the experience of playing three years at a national level is invaluable for a rookie,” said Vallée. “As an older and experienced athlete, she has an unprecedented work ethic. From a role player in her first year, she has pushed herself to become the best scorer and rebounder in the Quebec CEGEP league, the most competitive college league in Canada.”
Graduating from Vanier with her diploma in Social Science, Prevost will enter the faculty of Human Kinetics in the fall. Over her career at Vanier, she was also the recipient of two Canadian College Athletic Association awards and captain of the Cheetahs for the past two seasons.
Prevost is the first recruit to commit to the Lancers for the 2013-14 season,
“Emily trains year round, has a high expectation of herself, is a loud vocal leader on the floor and has a fantastic personally. We will look to her to contribute and perform right away in our offense.”
