Lancers dominate Blues at St. Denis Centre

The Lancers welcomed the Toronto Varsity Blues to the St. Denis Centre on Saturday looking to keep their loss column empty.  The Lancers used a long range attack to shoot their way to a dominating 83-60 final.

The Blue & Gold remain undefeated and sit in first place in the OUA west division. The Blues, meanwhile, fall to 1-2 on the year in the east division.

GAME STATS
Continuing her consistent standout performances, senior Emily Prevost led the way for the Lancers with 18 points, while Tyra Blizzard and Nyamuoch Teny scored 17 and 14 points, respectively.

For the Blues, Rahshida Atkinson scored 12 poitns, while Keyira Parkes and Christine Jurcau both scored 11.

The Lancers shot 60 per cent from beyond the arc, including an 80 per cent three-point performance from Teny. The Blues were held to 11 per cent shooting from down deep, with Sarah Bennett hitting the team's only triple.

The Lancers narrowly outrebounded the Varsity Blues by a margin of 33-28. Olivia Osamusali brought down eight boards for the Lancers while Keyira Parks and Mahal De La Durantay each brought down five rebounds for Toronto.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers took the lead early and never looked back. Despite a 45-point first half, the Lancer defense was what powered the Blue & Gold. The Varsity Blues were held to 25 per cent shooting from the field in the first half and failed to convert a single shot from three-point land. Windsor shot a respectable 44 per cent from the field and converted on 40 per cent of their triples. The Lancers were paced in the first half by strong performances by Prevost who scored 12 points and Teny who added 11 points off the bench on 3 of 4 shooting beyond the arc. The Lancers led 45-19 at halftime.

In the second half, Windsor turned up the heat on their long range game, shooting 60 per cent from beyond the arc in the second half. The Varsity Blues would make a run late, however down by 40, but it was too little too late, as the Lancers won their third game of the season in commanding 83-60 fashion.
