In their first game on home court in 2018, the No. 7 Lancer women's basketball team dropped an intense game to the No. 8 McMaster Marauders 67-63 Wednesday night at the St. Denis Centre.
Â
The loss moves Windsor into a tie with the Marauders for first place in the OUA west division. McMaster has defeated the Lancers in both of their meetings this season, so should the two clubs remain tied at the end of the season, the Marauders will earn the tie-breaker.

GAME FLOW
Despite the Marauders taking an early lead the Lancers never counted themselves out and stayed within mere points of the visitors throughout a majority of the first half. The Lancers took their first lead of the game halfway through the second quarter, and held a 30-27 advantage at the break.
Â
With both teams coming out hot in the second half, the clubs traded baskets and had the lead change five times in the third quarter alone.
Â
With the Marauders holding a three point advantage heading into the fourth quarter and built it up to a six point lead with four minutes remaining. Windsor did not back down, however, and brought the game within two, 65-63, with eight seconds to spare. Unfortunately for the Lancers, the Marauders took advantage of a deep inbound and made a final lay-up at the buzzer to secure the win.
