GAME FLOW
Hope opened the scoring for the Blue & Gold early in the first. Accepting a pass from Skinner and Gagnon, Hope tucked it behind Laurier goaltender Jacob Standon. Standon left the game shortly after with an injury, and was replaced by first year goaltender Tyler Fassl.Â
Windsor took a two goal lead just nine seconds into their first power play opportunity of the game with
Connor Logan scoring his second OUA career goal in as many games. Special teams played a key factor in the game for both teams, as the Lancers went 2-for-4 with the extra man, while the Hawks seized every opportunity going 2-for-2.Â
Laurier would score late in the period to make it a one goal game heading into the first intermission.Â
The Hawks started the second on the power play and Jeremy Pullara scored from the high slot to tie to bring the Hawks even at 2 goals apiece. A back and forth period saw
John Wesley put the Lancers back on top again before the Hawks tied it up scoring another power play goal. Windsor would then go on to score three unanswered goals from Parker (PP), Gagnon, and Dundas to take a 6-3 lead at the end of the second.Â
Just 31 seconds into a feisty third period, Pullara scored his second goal of the game, a long shot from the top of the circle, to bring the Hawks back within two. Windsor's power play unit saw plenty of action throughout the final period, but there were unable to capitalize on any chances. After Laurier pulled Fassl for a man-advantage late in the third, Dundas added a security marker with nine seconds remaining to seal the victory.Â
