After splitting their weekend road trip last weekend, the Lancer men's basketball team closed out the first half of the season with a pair of losses to Laurentian and Nipissing.
Â
The Blue & Gold fell 84-63 on Friday night to the Voyaguers before dropping an 81-54 decision to the Lakers Saturday.
Â
Heading into the holiday break, the Lancers are 3-8 on the season and tied for sixth place in the OUA west division.
Â
FRIDAY @ LAURENTIAN
The Voyaguers got things going early on as they opened the game with a 9-0 run. The hosts hit 58% of their shots in the first half compared to Windsor's 38% to take a 50-31 lead at the half.
Â
The third quarter was the Lancers best of the night, outscoring Laurentian 25-14 to bring the deficit to single digits. After bringing the game to within 8-points, Laurentian put on a great fourth quarter push going on a 20-7 run to close the game and take the game.
Â
Damian Pursaud led all scorers with 23 points while Laurentian was led by Joseph Hlady with 22.
Â
SATURDAY @ NIPISSING
The Lancers offense struggled early and couldn't really establish any sort of rhythm, shooting less than 30 per cent early. While the Lancers struggled on offense, the Lakers were operating efficiently, making their looks and working their way out to a 24-20 lead over the Lancers after the first. Windsor scored just seven points in the second quarter and headed into the half down, 45-27.
Â
The third quarter didn't fare much better for the Lancers as the offense remained stuck in the mud. The Lakers offense remained on the same pace they set in the first half hitting a similar number of their looks and extending their lead over the visiting Lancers. The Lancers just couldn't gain an edge on any side of the floor, falling 84-51.
Â
Windsor was led by
Telloy Simon who put up 11 points in the loss. Nipissing's Markus Lewis led all scorers with 17 points.
Â
UP NEXT
