GAME FLOW
The Lancers defense gave up some yards on the first drive as the Gee-Gees marched down field and into scoring territory. Luckily the blue and gold tightened up and forced a field goal. The Lancers offense was ready to answer and did just that. Girard found
Kaeden Walls for the first touchdown of the game, putting Windsor up 7-3. The Gee-Gees conceded a safety and kicked a field goal on their next possession to bring the game to within three points.Â
Â
On Ottawa's next drive, Maracle found Carter Matheson for a 42-yard score. Not to be outdone however, Girard and company went right down field again and found Walls again who went leaping over a defender into the end zone for the 19-yard touchdown, putting the Lancers up 16-13 heading into halftime.
Â
Early in the third the Lancers looked to be in good shape on their first drive until penalties dragged the offense down. Two consecutive holding calls killed the drive, on the Gee-Gees possession they took advantage and scored as Maracle found his receiver from 22 yards out, making the score 21-19 after the kickoff went for a rouge. The Lancers drove down field to answer and looked to take the lead, however,
Griffin Fenton's field goal attempt was blocked, keeping the Gee-Gees in the lead. The Windsor offensive miscues continued as Girard took a sack in the end zone, extending the Ottawa lead. The Lancers scored late in the fourth quarter but were heavily outdone in the second half, losing in Ottawa 54-26.
