The Lancer men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker in overtime Saturday night in Windsor with a 91-88 loss to the Queen's Gaels.
Â
The blue and gold battled hard and answered just about every Queen's run, unfortunately at the end the Gaels made a couple more plays as Windsor drops back to .500 at 4-4 on the year.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers started the game by hitting their first look from the field to take a quick 3-0 lead. Unfortunately for the Lancers it was the only offence they produced for most of the quarter as they trailed the Gaels in the opening frame.
Telloy Simon gave the Lancers some life by hitting a late three to bring the hosts back into striking distance.
Â
In the second quarter Windsor's outside shooting really improved as they rattled off consecutive threes early in the second to jump ahead of the Gaels. However, it was right about then when Cameron Bett went off and drained three 3's in a row to catapult the Gaels back in front late. After 20 minutes there was hardly any separation as the Gaels held a slight 43-42 edge over the Lancers at the halfway mark.
Â
Windsor struggled early in the third as the Gaels continued their success from beyond the arc. Despite the Gaels' lead though the Lancers hung tough, staying close enough that a couple of shots could change the game. Late in the third the Lancers were tied when
Shakael Pryce drove the lane and found a wide-open
Chris Poloniato for three, showing off some impressive court vision. The three gave the Lancers a 67-64 lead heading into the fourth with the Lancers offense heating up.
Â
The fourth quarter was a defensive dog fight as both squads scratched and clawed to come out on top of a highly contested game. The Lancers had some hot shooting in the quarter but couldn't find any separation after 40 minutes, tied at 79.
Â
The overtime period was just as competitive as the rest of the game, coming down to literally the last second of the five-minute overtime period. When the dust settled, it was the Queen's Gaels on top, winning 91-88.
