GAME FLOW
The first period was an intense one, played at a high pace. The Warriors applied pressure early, but Reinhart was on top of his game, turning away the Warriors early. After stopping one shot however, he left a juicy rebound laying right in the slot and Waterloo's Nick Halagian was all too happy to put it home, propelling Waterloo to an early 1-0 lead. Immediately thereafter, however,
Nolan Gardiner stemmed any momentum, tying the game at one a piece. Later, at the 11:13 mark,
Brennan Feasey buried his sixth goal of the season, putting the Lancers up 2-1. The blue and gold weren't done scoring yet though, as Melconian buried a power play goal, his first career OUA goal, to put the Lancers up 3-1 heading into intermission.
Â
The Lancers kept the up the energy and stayed on the attack in the second. The Warriors didn't help themselves however, giving the Lancers two powerplays in the first five minutes of the period.
Sean Olson scored on the first and Feasey picked up his second of the game, putting the Lancers up 5-1. The Warriors managed just four shots in the frame and Reinhart stopped them all. With about 4:22 left in the third, Gardiner beat Waterloo's Julian Sime to make it six unanswered goals for the Lancers, putting them up 6-1 at the break.
Â
The third period was no different for the Lancers as they put the finishing touches on one of their best performances of the season.
Ryan Barbosa beat Waterloo's back up Trevor Martin to make it 7-1, and moments later Melconian potted his second as the Lancers took the game 8-1.
