FRIDAY
STATS
Outside hitter Yaila Sealy put in the work for the blue and gold tallying nine total kills, while Emma Sheppard had a strong offense racking up eight kills for the team. Setter and captain Brooke Davis recorded 26 assists and 11 digs for the squad.
GAME FLOW
In the opening game, the Lancers had a slow start but held good rallies against the host Warriors. Waterloo kicked off the game with a 10-3 run and the Lancers were unable to come back, falling 15-25.
The second set continued a similar pattern with the Warriors coming out strong on the attack and finding holes in Lancer territory to dig deep and extend their lead. With some chances to tighten up their ball control, the Blue and Gold could not settle down and find ways to bounce back, dropping the second set 16-25.
In the final set of the match, the Warriors held their momentum as the Lancers tried to put in a strong effort to close the gap. Despite Windsor trying to hold the Warriors off in the late stages of the set, they could not handle the pressure put on by Waterloo's offense and fell 19-25 to close the game.
SATURDAY
STATS
Sealy once again led the game with 14 kills to 5 errors, while Davis contributed 35 assists.
GAME FLOW
The Lancers opened up the first set playing a strong offense taking an early 6-4. After the technical timeout, the Warriors started to collect themselves and find opportunities to score points, leading 19-16. Jordyn Brearly showed off her skills and found a play in the Warrior corner they could not reach. Although Windsor got off to a good start, they struggled to find their rhythm to hold on late in the set and dropped 20-25.
Coming into the second set, Windsor followed a similar pattern with an early lead as Sheppard and Sealy helped to increase the hitting percentage for Windsor with quick answers to the Warriors. By extending their gap, the blue and gold forced the Warriors into a timeout. Yet, they could not continue the momentum into the rest of the set and the Warriors played tough to win the set 25-23.
Windsor was able to find their stride back in the third set and capitalize their plays. They took the set with a quick 25-13 game.
In the last set, both teams showed off their tough defense and carried rallies going back and forth. Although the blue and gold pushed hard to take control of the game, they lost 25-20 and the match 3-1.
