GAME FLOW
The first period saw the blue and gold open the scoring in a similar fashion to game one as the first goal of the game came within the first three minutes of the contest. Shortly after though, the Thunderwolves scrambled in front of the Lancer net to chip in a shot as
Nathan Torchia struggled to see through the traffic and was unable to track down the puck in time. The teams were in for an early 1-1 tied game. The physicality of the game increased but the teams held their own and went into the intermission still tied.
Â
In the second frame, Torchia and Cicigoi continued to be put to the test as the Lancers and Thunderwolves came out firing on a cylinders. The Thunderwolves' best chance in the period came from forward Spencer Blackwill who turned on the jets and made the Lancer net his target, however Torchia was able to redirect the puck into the boards and keep the game tied. With five minutes left in the frame and the Lancers short handed,
Anthony Stefano managed to break free but fired the shot just wide. The teams remained tied 1-1 at the break.
Â
The third period saw Windsor and Lakehead have their fair share of chances yet no one was able to capitalize. With time of the essence, both squads would attempt every strategy in the book in hopes to put the game away, yet the game would be extended into overtime to decide who would come out on top.Â
Â
Three minutes into the overtime frame, Fox would find his way inside the Lancer zone and chip in the puck past Torchia for the win.
