The University of Windsor Lancers men's basketball team earned a 71–56 road victory over the York Lions on Saturday (Feb. 7) night in Toronto, Ont.
GAME FLOW
Windsor controlled the pace early, holding a slim 13–11 lead after the opening quarter before York edged ahead 14–12 in the second to take a narrow 25–24 advantage into halftime. The Lancers flipped the game coming out of the break, dominating the third quarter 25–10, and maintained control down the stretch with a 21–21 fourth quarter to secure the win.
A strong defensive effort and efficient shooting powered Windsor's performance, as the Lancers shot 41.3% from the field and an impressive 48.0% from three-point range, while going a perfect 7-for-7 at the free-throw line. York struggled offensively throughout the night, shooting just 27.1% from the floor and 16.7% from beyond the arc. Windsor also held a slight edge on the boards, 37–38, and forced 12 turnovers, using defensive pressure to swing momentum decisively in the second half.
STATS
Yohann Sam led the Lancers with 15 points, knocking down five field goals and going a perfect 3-for-3 at the line. Bronson Chambers followed closely with 14 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting, while Emanuel Otong added eight points and Andrew Cook chipped in with five rebounds and three assists. Off the bench, Matt Aebersold provided a spark with 10 points, and Isiah Dunlop made the most of limited minutes, scoring six points on two made three-pointers.
For the Lions, Jeremiah Kwarteng led all scorers with 19 points, while Judain Holness added 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Despite winning the rebounding battle, York was unable to overcome its shooting struggles and Windsor's dominant third-quarter surge.

With the win, Windsor improves to 11–10 on the season and will look to build momentum as they close out the regular season their next matchup at home against the Algoma Thunderbirds.
