The University of Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team fell 3–0 to the Manitoba Bisons in the bronze medal match of the 2026 U SPORTS Men's Volleyball Championship on Sunday (Mar. 15) afternoon at the Toldo Lancer Centre, bringing their memorable season to a close.

Manitoba established early momentum in the opening set, executing an aggressive offensive approach to secure a narrow 25–23 victory. The Bisons tallied 18 kills while hitting .333 in the frame, led by outside hitter Owen Weekes, who paced the attack throughout the match. Windsor remained within striking distance thanks to a steady offensive output, recording 12 kills and hitting .250, but Manitoba's consistent pressure ultimately proved decisive in the closing points.
The Bisons extended their advantage in the second set, pulling away for a 25–16 win. Manitoba continued its balanced attack with 12 kills and limited errors, finishing the set hitting .242 while capitalizing on several Windsor miscues. The Lancers struggled to find rhythm offensively in the frame, hitting -.033 despite several strong defensive rallies.
Looking to end their season with a final push in front of the home crowd, Windsor responded with renewed energy in the third set. The Lancers delivered their most efficient offensive performance of the afternoon, recording 13 kills and hitting .346 while battling through several long rallies. Despite the late surge, Manitoba held its composure in the closing points to secure the set 25–23 and clinch the bronze medal.

For Windsor, Gustavo Siqueira once again led Windsor's attack with 12 kills on 23 attempts, hitting an efficient .391. Conaire Taub added six kills while Anthony Ivanovski contributed four kills and three service aces to spark the Lancer push. setter Markus Law-Heese distributed 27 assists while contributing five digs. Defensively, Noah Koskie and Chase Bridges helped anchor the backcourt with key digs as the Lancers battled through the final match of their season. As a team, Windsor recorded 32 kills on 92 attempts for a .185 hitting percentage while adding three service aces, four total blocks, and 28 digs.
Weekes led all players with 16 kills and 18 points. Setter Sammy Ludwig guided the Bison offense with 36 assists as Manitoba finished the match hitting .292 as a team. The visitors also recorded six service aces and 12 total blocks to maintain consistent pressure throughout the match.
Although the Lancers were unable to capture the bronze medal, the team's determination and consistency throughout the year highlighted the best season yet for the program, who claim their highest-ever finish in a season, in which they also earned their first-ever U SPORTS quarterfinal win.
Hosting the U SPORTS Championship and competing deep into the tournament marked a significant moment for the Windsor program. With a combined 21–5 overall regular season and playoff record and the experience of competing on the national stage in front of their home supporters, the Lancers will carry valuable momentum and confidence into the next chapter of their program as they begin preparations for the 2026–27 season.
