The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team battled hard on Thursday (Mar. 19) afternoon at the U SPORTS Men's Hockey Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, earning a 4–3 victory over the Mount Royal Cougars in the heart of the city at Scotiabank Centre. Windsor used a strong third-period surge and timely scoring to secure the win, holding off a late push from Mount Royal on the national stage.

Lancer goaltender Max Donoso delivered a standout performance for the Lancers, making 38 saves on 41 shots as Mount Royal generated heavy offensive pressure throughout the game. Cougars netminder Shane Farkas stopped 16 of 20 shots in the loss. Mount Royal held a significant edge in shots, outshooting Windsor 41–20, including a strong push in the third period.
Alex Cunningham led the Windsor offence with two goals, including the game-winner, while Owen Jones added two assists. Additional goals came from Jacob Boucher and Brady Hinz, with helpers credited to Johhny Ulicny, Aaron Shaw, Dylan Schives, Matt McNamara, and Ray Hamlin. For Mount Royal, Tristan Zandee recorded a goal and an assist, while Josh Tarzwell added a goal and a helper.

Windsor opened the scoring late in the first period, as Alex Cunningham finished a play set up by Owen Jones, knocking in a loose puck in the crease, to give the Lancers a 1–0 lead heading into the intermission.
Mount Royal responded early in the second period, with Tristan Zandee capitalizing on a setup from Jayden Wiens to even the score. Both teams traded chances through the remainder of the period, but strong goaltending kept the game tied heading into the third.
The Lancers took control early in the final frame with a quick offensive burst. Jacob Boucher fired home a rebound to restore Windsor's lead, and eleven seconds later Brady Hinz double the advantage, giving Windsor momentum for the final push.
Mount Royal answered back on the power play to cut the deficit to one, but Cunningham struck again midway through the period, tapping in a loose puck on a scramble play to restore the two-goal cushion. The Cougars continued to push late in the game, with Josh Tarzwell scoring to bring Mount Royal within one. Despite sustained pressure and a high shot volume from the Cougars, the Lancers held firm defensively, with Donoso making key saves down the stretch to preserve the 4–3 victory.
