This summer, the Lancer Football program will once again host the Gino Fracas Memorial Golf Tournament at the Ambassador Golf Club. With the goal of making the event on of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the area, the Lancer Football program has enabled the help of alumni from the 1969 & 1975 Lancer championships teams in the organization of the event.
With all proceeds from the tournament being shared equally between the football program and the Gino Fracas Memorial Scholarship, the committee has set a goal to have each participant donate $250.00 to the program.
In return participants will receive a tax receipt for the full amount of their donation, enjoy a round of golf and a day of fellowship with like-minded Lancer supporters at a great golf venue. They will also receive a registration gift, a continental breakfast, a lunch snack at the turn, and dinner. A prize table will also be part of the fundraising at the event.
Entering its third year, the Gino Fracas Memorial Scholarship was created by the 1969 Lancer football team after the sudden loss of their legendary coach. In the past two years the scholarship has been awarded to two Lancer Football student athletes each year, each receiving $3500. The plan is to continue making such awards, but the amount will increase to $4000 beginning in 2012. Consequently the scholarship fund, although almost $50,000 has been raised, is in need of continuing financial support.
The Gino Fracas Memorial Golf Tournament will provide an opportunity for all Lancer Football enthusiasts to lend their support to the program. Each donation will go equally to further the efforts of Lancer Football as well as funding the Fracas Scholarship. Opportunities to register for the event will appear on the Go Lancer web site in the near future. It is time for all Lancer supporters to get behind the program by supporting this event.
