Fresh off a stellar varsity career at the University of Windsor, Stefanie Smith is entering her first year as assistant coach with the Lancer cross country team. Capturing 3 All-Canadian positions in the Blue and Gold and having represented Canada twice at the World University Cross Country Championships (Italy 2016, Switzerland 2018), the London, ON native brings a wealth of distance running experience to the table.
Smith completed her Bachelor of Human Kinetics in 2018, captaining both the Cross Country and Track and Field teams throughout her degree. Holding the Lancer Track and Filed records in the 1500m, Mile, 3000m, and 5000m, Smith looks to bring her competitiveness, leadership, and youthful energy to the Cross Country squad and inspire the next generation of Windsor harriers.
Stef still runs competitively on the national and international level, having finished 19th at the 10km Canadian Cross County Championships in 2017 and 5th in the 5000m at the Canadian Track and Field Championships this past July. An experienced camp councilor and coffee connoisseur, Stef looks forward to keeping her athletes focused, motivated, and caffeinated, and will be a welcome face for the Fall 2018 season.Â
