Windsor Lancers

Matt Walters of the Lancer Cross Country and Track and Field teams captured the 2011-12 Olympic Shield as the University of Windsor Male Athlete of the Year.

Walters, from North Bay, Ontario, had an outstanding 2011-12  with the Lancer Cross Country and Track and Field programs as he earned All-Canadian status in both sports while also being named the CIS male track athlete of the year.

Matt was named the recipient of the Hec Phillips Trophy as the MVP at the OUA Track & Field championships, and captured two gold medals at the national championships.
 
In Cross Country, he captured the individual bronze medal at both the provincial and national championships.
