Alongside our corporate partner the Investors Group, the Department of Athletics at the University of Windsor is pleased to present the IG Champions Cup.
 
The IG Champions Cup is a department trophy that's awarded each year to the Lancer varsity team that best exemplifies what it takes to be a champion in the classroom, on the playing field and throughout the community.
 
Lancer varsity teams gain points towards the IG Champions Cup throughout the year based on a variety of contributing factors including team athletic success, academic achievements, individual conference and league accolades and team community involvement initiatives.
 
The points breakdown for the IG Champions Cup is as follows:

Conference Finish	1st place 40 points, 2nd place 35 points, 3rd place 30 points, 4th place 25 points, 5th place 20 points
Conference Improvement	10 points for each position a team moves up in the standings from the previous year.
CIS and OUA Team Championships	U SPORTS Championship – 30 points, OUA Championship - 20 points
Individual Accolades (NOTE: all-Canadians, all-star, and academic all-Canadian points awarded up to a max of 3 per team)	U SPORTS Athlete of the Year - 40 points, U SPORTS all-Canadian 25 points, U SPORTS Academic all-Canadian  25 points, OUA Athlete/Player of the Year - 25 points, OUA major award/all-star 20 points, OUA or U SPORTS Rookie of the Year 15 points, U SPORTS all-rookie team 10 points, U SPORTS or OUA Athlete of the Week 10 points, OUA Team of the Month 10 points, OUA or U SPORTS All-Rookie Team 10 points, OUA Play of the Week or UWindsor Athlete of the Week 5 points
Team Academic Success (NOTE: points awarded based on final first semester marks)	Team Average over 80% GPA – 100 points, over 75% GPA – 75 points, over 70% GPA - 50 points, over 65% GPA - 25 points
Community Service (NOTE: points awarded up to max of 5 different events per season)	25 points for each community service event or charitable program that a Lancer team participates in throughout the year

OCTOBER
October 1 - Brady Lidster from Lancer Football has been named the OUA Athlete of the Week for his record breaking performance over the weekend! Congratulations Brady!

October 6 - Congratulations to Max Donoso from Men's Hockey and Kennedy Fremlin & Tyler Hurtubise from Lancer Golf who have been named Lancer Athletes of the Week!

October 8 - An over the fence catch by Baseball's Justin Kelly-Boxe is the No. 2 OUA Play of the Week!

October 11 - Women's Soccer finished the regular season with a third place finish in the OUA west division - an improvement from 5th place in 2024!

October 12 - Lancer Softball finished third overall in the OUS standings!

October 14 - Congratulations to Braxton Johnson from Lancer Football, Joelle Olla from Cross Country and Keegan McMullin from Men's Hockey who have been named Lancer Athletes of the Week!

October 14 - Congratulations to Braxton Johnson from Lancer Football on being named an OUA Athlete of the Week! 

October 15 - Not one but two Lancers made their way onto the OUA plays of the week! Women's Soccer's Izzy Barrette's tremendous save made it's way to the No. 4 spot, while Lancer Football's Zach Talbot blocked punt and TD return found it's way to No. 3!  

October 16 - Emma Hanley & Jayde Melhuish-McGahan from Softball have been named OUS all-stars! Way to go Lancers!

October 19 - Lancer Women's Golf captured a bronze medal at the OUA championships! Way to go Lancers!!

October 19 - Alex Mauro from Lancer Golf was named an OUA first team all-star, while Ella Harris was named a second team all-star! Great job Lancers!

October 20 - Congratulations to Makayla Mailhot from Women's Hockey & Weagbe Mombo from Lancer Football on being named the Lancer Athletes of the Week!

October 22 - A tremendous save from Rebecca Noble of the Women's Hockey team lands her in the No. 4 spot on the OUA Plays of the Week!  

October 25 - Cross Country had a tremendous day at the OUA Championships! The Lancer women placed second overall for a silver medal (up five spots from the previous year), while the men moved up one and placed fourth overall! Great job Lancers! 

October 25 - Cross Country's Samara Quanz captured an individual bronze medal to be named an OUA all-star. Other cross country all-stars included Jacob Fitzpatrick, Noah, Costa, Joelle Olla & Natalie Fortier! Amazing!

October 27 - Congratulations to Women's Volleyball's Jordyn Brearly, Cross Country's Samara Quanz, Men's Hockey's Keegan McMullen & Men's Volleyball's Gustavo Siqueira on being named the Lancer Athletes of the Week!

October 29 - Congratulations to Avery Comartin & Izzy Barrette from Women's Soccer on being named OUA all-stars!

November 8 - Samara Quanz has an outstanding showing at the U SPORTS Cross Country Championships, finishing 14th overall and being named a 2nd team all-Canadian!! Amazing!

November 10 - Congratulations to our Lancer Athletes of the Week - Samara Quanz from Cross Country, Teagan Pare from Women's Hockey & Yohann Sam from Men's Basketball!
