First place on the line as Lancers welcome Lakehead to town this weekend

With first place in the conference on the line, the Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team will host the Lakehead Thunderwolves this weekend for a two-game series at the St. Denis Centre.

The two-game set will tip-off Friday night at 8pm followed by the second part of the two-game series on Saturday night. The Lancer Women will also battle the Thunderwolves on Friday and Saturday nights at 6pm.

Coach Oliver's team comes into the weekend after taking two of three road games over the past two weeks. The Lancers earned impressive wins on the road over McMaster and Western before falling at Brock last Saturday on a last second shot at the buzzer.

Windsor currently sits with a 10-4 record and are one game behind Lakehead (11-3) in the race for top spot in the OUA West Division.

The Thunderwolves come into the weekend after losing their last game in overtime to the Guelph Gryphons. Lakehead owned a nine-point lead at halftime but couldn't hang on, falling 69-62 to their last-place opponent.

On the women' side, Coach Vallee's squad currently sits at 13-1 and are firmly atop the OUA West Division standings.

The #3 nationally ranked Lancers are coming off a 72-50 victory over Brock last weekend and will be looking to put more distance between themselves and the rest of the division this weekend.

The Lakehead women should prove to be a worthy opponent as they are 9-5 on the season and are coming off a two-game sweep of the Guelph Gryphons last weekend.

All the action gets underway on Friday night at the St. Denis Centre as the Lancer Women host the Thunderwolves at 6pm followed by the battle for first place with the Lancer Men and Lakehead at 8pm.
