Box Score The No.3 nationally ranked Lancer Women's Basketball team scored 23 points in the third quarter en route to a 65-62 win over the host Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday in Waterloo.
The Lancers improve to 19-1 on the season and clinched first place in the OUA West division earlier this week.
On Saturday, both teams came out playing a strong defensive game in the early going with the Lancers using a full-court press to help create turnovers.
However, Laurier was able to withstand the pressure and kept the score tied 13-13 after one quarter of play.
The second quarter remained a tightly contested game as neither team was able to pull away from the other. The score remained tied, 31-31 heading into the break.
The third quarter was where the Lancers took over as they built a nine point lead thanks to eight straight scores. Raelyn Prince picked up five of those points as Windsor outscored Laurier 23-14 in the quarter.
In the fourth, Laurier cut the lead to three points with less than a minute left in the quarter, but that was as close as they would get, with Windsor earning the 65-62 victory.
For the Lancers, Laura Mullins led the way with 13 points, while Miah-Marie Langlois had 12 and Bojana Kovacevic chipped in with 11. Langlois and Shavaun Reaney led Windsor in rebounding with six boards each.
Windsor will be back on the road this coming Wednesday as they face the Guelph Gryphons at 6pm in Guelph. They will then return home on Saturday for their final home game of the regular season against McMaster. Tip-off is set for 3pm.
