Lancers too much for Golden Hawks, roll to 75-49 victory

Windsor now 17-1 in conference play

Rookie Jessica Gordon and the Lancers defeated Laurier 75-49 on Saturday night.
Box Score The Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks 75-49 on Saturday night at the St. Denis Centre.

With the victory, the #3 ranked Lancers move to 17-1 in conference play.

On Saturday night, Windsor got off to another quick start as they opened a 20-8 first quarter lead to seize control of the game.

Coach Vallee's squad got another strong shooting performance from third year guard Emily Abbott, who knocked 4 of 5 from long range in the opening half.

The Lancers continued to apply pressure at both ends of the court as they increased their lead to 17 at the half, 42-25.

The second half was more of the same as Laurier had trouble containing Lancer guards Shavaun Reaney, Bojana Kovacevic and Emily Abbott.

After extending their lead to 25 points in the third quarter, the Lancers cruised to the 75-49 victory.

In the win, Emily Abbott led scorers with 16 points and 3 steals. Shavaun Reaney also had a strong game as she filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.

Bojana Kovacevic added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the victory.

The Lancers will go on the road on Wednesday, February 10th as they travel to Waterloo for a battle with the Waterloo Warriors. Tip-off is set for 6pm.
