Lancers downed by Varsity Blues

Box Score Despite a strong second half rally, the Lancer men's basketball team dropped an 86-81 decision on the road to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday night in Toronto.

With the loss, the Lancers fall to 3-3 in OUA regular season play.

On Saturday night, Toronto opened the game with a six point run and held a 15 point lead in the first half. The Varsity Blues knocked down a number of long range buckets and led 56-34 at the break.

Down by as many as 28 in the third quarter, the Lancers mounted a furious rally in the final 20 minutes to cut the Toronto lead to only three.

With just under four minutes remaining, Windsor's Enrico Diloreto took control of the game with eight consecutive points to bring the Lancers to within three. However, a pair of Toronto free throws sealed the win for the Blues.

Windsor outscored the Varsity Blues 29-14 in the final frame but couldn't overtake the Blues as the home team held on for the five-point victory.

Diloreto led all players with a tremendous 31 point performance, while Josh Collins added 17.  Both Jahmal McQueen (12 points, 10 boards) and Lien Phillip (11 points, 12 boards) recorded double-doubles in the loss.

Windsor will close out inter-lock play next weekend when they host the RMC Paladins on Friday night and the Queen's Gaels on Saturday. Tip-off for both games is 8:00pm at the St. Denis Centre.
