Box Score The No. 2 ranked Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team closed out the regular season with a convincing 75-54 win over the Guelph Gryphons.
The Lancers end their regular season on a 13-game winning streak and finish at 20-2 and first overall in the OUA West Division.
Jessica Clemencon led all scorers with 20 points to go with 10 rebounds. Clemencon, a second year forward from St. Rambert, France finishes as the OUA's leading scorer and 4th in the nation at 19.0 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Bojana Kovacevic also added 16 points while Miah Langlois added 15 points to go with six assists.
On Saturday, it was a tight first frame as the Gryphons kept pace with the Lancers throughout the quarter. Windsor held a four point lead at the end of the ten minutes.
Windsor's size advantage forced the Gryphons into foul trouble in the second quarter as the visitors were able to build on their lead. The Lancers closed the quarter on a 19-4 run, putting the Gryphons into a sizable hole which they could not recover from.
Both teams traded baskets in the third, but the Lancers kept their lead in the double digits and cruised in the fourth with the game well in hand.
The Lancers will now receive a first round bye and will host the lowest remaining seed in the OUA West semi-finals next Saturday, February 26th, as part the OUA West Final Four that will take place this coming weekend at the St. Denis Centre.
Windsor will play in the first semi-final at 2pm on Saturday, while the Western Mustangs will play the other quarter-final winner at 4pm.
The West Division third place game will take place on Sunday, February 27th at 2pm, followed by the OUA West Division final at 4pm.
