Box Score The Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team got a pair of strong performances from senior
Raelyn Prince and
Morgan Jean en route to a convincing 83-50 victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday night.
The game was a re-scheduled contest that had been postponed due to weather from the previous night.
With the victory, the #2 ranked Lancers move to 14-2 in conference play and tied at the top of the OUA West standings with the Western Mustangs.
On Thursday night, Windsor got a double-double from
Raelyn Prince and an inspired effort from guard
Morgan Jean in the victory over the Gryphons.
Prince, a 5th year senior from Harrow, ON, finished with 11 points on 5 of 5 shooting and 13 rebounds in the win. She was unstoppable on the glass, collecting 8 rebounds in the first quarter alone.
Jean, a transfer from Guelph, was very solid against her former team as she finished with 16 points on 5 of 8 shooting and added 5 assists.
The Lancers built an early 19-8 lead in the opening quarter before the Gryphons cut back into the lead in the second quarter. Guelph outscored Windsor 23-18 in the second frame and trailed by only 6 at the break.
The second half was all Windsor as the home team came out on fire and completed dominated both ends of the court.
Jessica Clemencon continued her strong play in the paint as helped the Lancers go on a 24-5 run in the third quarter to put the game out of hand.
Clemencon finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Lancers cruised to the 33-point win.
The Lancers will next be in action on Saturday afternoon when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at 3pm at the St. Denis Centre. The game will be part of Breast Cancer Awareness day as the Lancers will look to raise money in support of Breast Cancer research.
Commemorative Blue and Pink Lancer t-shirts will be on sale on Saturday with all the proceeds raised going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
