Lancers go 2-1 at Cougar Invitational

The Lancer women's basketball team went 2-1 in their final pre-season tournament last weekend in Regina at the Cougar Invitational.

The Lancers opened the tournament against Fraser Valley University, and then faced the host Regina Cougars for the next two games.

In game one against Fraser Valley, Windsor led for the entire forty minutes and came away with an 82-56 win.

Jessica Clemencon led all scorers with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Korissa Williams and Miah-Marie Langlois both chipped in 14 points, while rookie Andrea Kiss had 10.

In the Lancers first game against Regina on Saturday, Windsor trailed by five after the first quarter, but after a 25 point second quarter, the Lancers never looked back and came away with a 69-57 victory.

It was déjà vu for Clemecon, who again had a game high 23 points and 5 rebounds. Langlois improved to 15 points, while Williams had 13 points and a game high 9 rebounds.

In their final game on Sunday morning, the Lancers once again faced the host Cougars. This time around, Regina held the lead for the entire game and defeated the Lancers 74-63.

Jocelyn LaRocque spurred a comeback in the third quarter, and a three point shot from Anna Mullins brought the Lancers within one, but they were unable to pull ahead of the host school.

It was Williams turn to take the reigns as she led the game with 22 points. LaRocque was next with 16 points and Clemencon followed with 14.

The Lancers will travel to Oakland University this Saturday for their final pre-season match-up before the regular season opens on November 9th against the Carleton Ravens.
