Box Score TORONTO- The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team moved to a perfect 4-0 on the season after dismantling the York Lions 73-37 on Saturday night.
Korissa Williams tallied a game-high 19 points, while
Miah-Marie Langlois added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the victory for Windsor, who held York to just four points in the opening quarter. The smothering defence by the Lancers provided no open passing lanes and the score was 14-4 Windsor after the opening quarter. The second quarter saw the Lions able to generate slightly more offense, but Windsor used a mini 6-0 run in the middle of the frame to extend their lead to 15 heading into halftime.
The Lions continued to frustrate Windsor on the defensive end in the third quarter, but were still unable to find their scoring touch, allowing the Lancers to take a 50-27 lead into the final frame. It was more of the same by the powerhouse Windsor Lancers in the fourth quarter, as their defence continued to cause problems for York. Their offense also stepped it up a notch, as they had their most productive quarter of the game helping them seal the victory.
The Lancers will look to remain unbeaten when they return to the St. Denis Centre next weekend to host the Ryerson Rams and Toronto Varsity Blues on November 23 and 24 respectively. Both games will tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
