The Lancers (4-0) made quick work of their first road opponents of the season, defeating the Laurentian Lady-Vees 83-59 last Friday before dominating the York Lions 73-37 the following evening. The women outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points last weekend, and will be looking to continue their dominant play this Friday and Saturday against the Rams and Varsity Blues.
Third-year guard
Korissa Williams has been superb through the first four contests of the season for Windsor, averaging a team-high 15.2 points per game and shooting a solid 53.0% from the field. The hometown native recorded 19 points against the Lions to help jumpstart the national champions to their fourth straight win. France native
Jessica Clemencon is second in team scoring with 14.5 points per game while shooting just over 52% from the floor. Windsor product
Miah-Marie Langlois has added 11.5 points per game and is leading the Lancers with 5.8 rebounds per game.
The No. 1 Lancers will take on the Ryerson Rams on Friday night. After losing its first two contests, Ryerson (2-2) was able to rebound for two straight victories which came on the road this past weekend. The Rams defeated Waterloo 67-57 last Friday, and were able to squeeze out a 72-69 overtime victory against the Laurier Golden Hawks the following evening to move back to the .500 mark coming into this weekend. The Rams are led by Kelsey Wright, who has averaged 15.0 points per game for Ryerson so far this season.
Windsor will face a stiff opponent in the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday evening. The Blues (4-0) are the only remaining East division squad that holds an unblemished record, while both Windsor and Brock (4-0) are unbeaten in the West. The Varsity Blues were able to tally single-digit victories over Laurier (58-54) and Waterloo (55-52) last weekend, and sit first in the East division heading into the weekend. They are guided by Jasmine Luwin, who is averaging 13.0 points per game for the Blues. Toronto is one of the few squads to find a chink in the Lancers armour over the past two seasons, as the Blues have tallied narrow victories in each of the last two regular season meetings between the squads.
Both matches will get underway at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and can be seen live on the Lancers-TV channel on USTREAM
