The Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team will host the Western Mustangs on Saturday night at 7pm in the OUA West Semi-Finals at the St. Denis Centre.
The game will be carried live on TV Cogeco for local viewers and will also be webcast live on SSNCanada for viewers outside of the region.
As part of the playoff festivities, the Lancers will also welcome Canadian boxing sensation Mary Spencer as their special guest for the evening.
The three-time world champion will perform a ceremonial tip-off prior to the game as well as participate in a special halftime show boxing demonstration for the fans. A Windsor native, Spencer is one of the most dominate female boxers in the world and she will be looking to capture a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
“We wanted to do something as a team to support Mary's quest for gold at the London Olympics,” said head coach Chantal Vallée. “We have used her as an example to motivate us before important games.”
For the Lancers, they come into Saturday's game fresh off another sparkling 20-2 regular season finish that saw them capture the OUA West division title for the fourth straight year.
In the final game of the regular season, the Lancers knocked off the Mustangs 76-57 at the St. Denis Centre. Windsor also swept the season series, winning 85-55 on the road in London in January.
