CIS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Lancers advance to semi-finals with dominating win over Acadia

Kovacevic had the game's only double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds
Box Score The No. 4 seed Windsor Lancers opened the CIS Championships in style with a convincing 94-46 win over the No. 5 seed Acadia Axewomen in the quarter-final on Saturday night at the Jack Simpson Gym in Calgary.
 
The Lancers will now advance to the championship semi-finals on Sunday night at 7:00pm Mountain Time. Windsor will play the winner of the Calgary/Regina quarter-final.
 
The Lancers opened up the game with an 8-0 run and some excellent defense as they prevented the Axewomen from making a field goal for the entire first quarter. Windsor held a 22-7 lead after the first quarter.
 
In the second, Acadia made their first field goal of the game one minute in as they began chipping away at the Lancer lead. Despite Acadia going on a 9-0 run late in the quarter, Windsor held a comfortable 42-25 lead at the half.
 
Windsor out-rebounded the Axewomen 29-13 in the half, and shot 45.5% from the three point line.
 
Jump started by a Laura Mullins three, the Lancers opened the second half with a 10-0 run over the first two minutes.  
 
The Lancers led a balanced attack throughout the remainder of the half, and again held the Axewomen to just seven points in the third quarter en route to the 94-46 win.
 
Bojana Kovacevic had an outstanding game for the Lancers as she was named Windsor's Player of the Game with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the game's only double-double.
 
Jessica Clemencon had a game high 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Emily Abbott and Korissa Williams each contributed 12 points in the game.
