Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.-
Jessica Clemencon recorded a double-double, including 17 points and 13 rebounds, as well as a game-high seven steals, and the Windsor Lancers women's basketball team knocked off the Waterloo Warriors 86-39 at the St. Denis Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Korissa Williams tallied 15 points and six take-aways, while
Miah-Marie Langlois (Windsor) dropped 12 points for the Lancers, who now sit in a tie for first place in the OUA West division with the also undefeated Brock Badgers.
The Lancers jumped on the visitors early, quickly garnering a double-digit advantage less than four minutes into the opening quarter. A three by
Jocelyn LaRocque put Windsor up 20-6, and
Anna Mullins drained another corner bucket from beyond the arc at the buzzer to give the Lancers a 27-14 lead at the end of the first.
Laura Mullins picked up where her sister left off in the second, picking up four points as the Lancers spread the lead to 25, prompting a Waterloo timeout. However, they were unable to stem the Windsor tide, and struggled to produce their own offense throughout the quarter. While holding their opponents to just four points in the second, the Lancers offense continued to roll, and they would take a commanding 50-18 lead into the locker rooms.
It was more of the same from the CIS No. 3 ranked Lancers in the second half, as they would roll to their 11th victory of the regular season. The Warriors remained resilient throughout the third and fourth quarter, and were led by Sam McIntyre who picked up 13 points and five rebounds for Waterloo.
The Lancers will hit the road next week, first travelling to Hamilton on Wednesday for a mid-week contest against the McMaster Marauders. The women will conclude next week's action on Saturday afternoon against the Guelph Gryphons, and will return to the St. Denis Centre on Wednesday, January 23 for a re-match with the Marauders.
