Box Score OTTAWA- The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team had its 38-game regular season winning streak snapped on Friday night in their season opener, as they fell to the Carleton Ravens 62-58 at the Ravens' Nest on Friday evening.
McKenzie Sigurdson had a game-high 20 points to help spur the Ravens to an upset win over the three-time defending national champions.
Miah-Marie Langlois notched a team-high 17 points, going 7-of-18 from the floor while
Korissa Williams and
Jessica Clemencon added 16 and 15 respectively. The Lancers received very little secondary scoring outside of the 'big-three', who accounted for all but 10 of Windsor's 58 points.
The Lancers shot 33.3% from the floor compared to 45.5% from the hosts, who narrowly outrebounded Windsor 39-38.
The women's last regular season loss came nearly two years ago when Windsor was defeated 81-80 by the Toronto Varsity Blues on November 26, 2011. The women hadn't lost a conference or post-season match in 32 outings, which included in it two national titles and a conference championship. Their last loss including regular season and playoffs came to the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the 2012 OUA Final.
The women will look to get back in the win column tomorrow evening when they take on the CIS No. 10 ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m., and the game can be seen live online at
