Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers men's basketball team used a dominant first half to top the York Lions 78-70 on Friday night in their home opener at the St. Denis Centre.
Enrico Diloreto picked up a team-high 15 points while
Lien Phillip recorded his first double-double of the season, notching 11 points and 13 rebounds to help the Lancers to their first victory on the year. Bradford Parker tallied 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds coming off the bench and
Khalid Abdel-Gabar added 10 for Windsor, who shot 36.6% on the night.
The Lions drop to 1-2 on the season and were led by Nick Tufegdzich who grabbed a game-high 19 points and an impressive 21 rebounds in a losing cause. York made things interesting in the final minutes of regulation, quietly cutting the lead into single digits for the first time since the opening quarter. However, Windsor's lead was never truly vulnerable, as the men improve their record to 1-2.
Windsor will look to make it two in a row when they welcome the Queen's Gaels to the St. Denis Centre. The Gaels picked up an 82-74 win over the Western Mustangs on Friday, improving their unblemished record to 3-0 heading into Saturday's game.
