Lancers win third in a row against Queen's

Korissa Williams tallied 14 points ane nine assists in Windsor's win over Queen's on Saturday.
Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- Jessica Clemencon tallied a season-high 24 points, including a monster second half where the France native picked up 18, and the Windsor Lancers women' s basketball team knocked off the Queen's Gaels 82-56 on Saturday evening at the St. Denis Centre.

The former BLG Award winner grabbed 14 rebounds, also a game-high, to earn her first double-double of the season. Korissa Williams was one helper shy of a double-double, as the fourth-year guard picked up 14 points and nine assists as well as four steals. Miah-Marie Langlois had a game-high nine steals and recorded 13 points on the evening. Jocelyn LaRocque added 11 points, while NCAA-transfer Kristine Lalonde tallied nine.

Jenny Wright had a team-high 14 points in a losing cause for the Gaels, who dropped their second game in as many evenings on Saturday.

It was the Gaels who came out strong to start the contest, taking a 15-11 lead after the first quarter of play. However, Langlois kick-started a Lancer streak in the second stanza, as the national champions overtook the contest midway through the period. Langlois led all players with 13 points at the half, while Jenny Wright recorded 10 for the Gaels.

Clemencon took over in the second half, allowing the Lancers to spread their advantage into double-digits. The women forced 27 turnovers from the visitors and were able to convert them into 34 points while limiting Queen's to just nine points off 13 take-aways. Windsor shot 50% in the final two quarters, and were 46.1% overall on the evening while the Gaels shot just under 34%.

The Lancers hit the road once again next week as they are off to the provincial capital to take on Ryerson and Toronto. The women return to the St. Denis Centre on November 22 and 23 to host Algoma and Laurentian.
