CIS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Lancers earn spot in CIS Final

Box Score The No. 1 Windsor Lancers women's basketball team punched their ticket into the CIS Championships final for the fourth straight year with a commanding 82-65 win over the No. 5 Calgary Dinos on Saturday evening in the championship semi-finals.

Player of the Game Jessica Clemencon led all scorers with a tournament high 21 points, and 9 rebounds. Korissa Williams and Laura Mullins each had a stellar game with 19 and 16 points respectively.

Windsor led 18-16 after the first quarter before a high-scoring second, which saw the Lancers outscore the Dinos by a 31-23 margin to take a 10-point advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Windsor never allowed Calgary to make a run to get back into the game and scored nine straight points late in the third quarter to put some distance between themselves and the Dinos. Windsor led by 20 for most of the fourth as the Lancers cruised to victory down the stretch.

“It was a tough battle tonight but we got the job done,” Windsor head coach Chantal Vallée said. “We've been in the final before and we know how difficult it is to play three games in a row, but we're happy we're in that spot again and we'll feel as good as anybody in the final tomorrow.”

Windsor improved on their shooting game from the quarter-finals, shooting 46.5% from the field, and going 11-for-19 from the free throw line.

The gold medal game will be broadcast LIVE on The Score Television Network at 4:00pm CT (6:00pm Eastern Time).
