Clemencon nets 33, Lancers top Guelph

Jessica Clemencon tallied a season-high 33 points in Windsor's win over Guelph on Wednesday.
Box Score WINDSOR, Ont.- St. Rambert, France native Jessica Clemencon scored a season-high 33 points, and the Windsor Lancers women's basketball team used dominant second and fourth quarters to tally a convincing 81-52 victory over the visiting Guelph Gryphons at the St. Denis Centre on Wednesday evening.

The former BLG award winner and CIS player of the year shot a formidable 60% (12-of-20) from the field and was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Clemencon managed all of this in just 23 minutes of court time, five minutes less than her season average, and added seven rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocks in the win. Miah-Marie Langlois picked up 13 points and eight rebounds while Korissa Williams added nine. Kim Moroun pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for the Blue and Gold, while Katherine MacTavish scored a team-best 14 points in a losing cause for the Gryphons (3-10).

Appearing in their first home conference match of the New Year, the Lancers (12-1) were played tough by the Gryphons through the first 10 minutes of play, as the teams were even at 16-16 after one quarter. However, Windsor's offence kicked into gear in the second period, scoring 28 points to take a 44-32 lead into the locker rooms. After another evenly contested quarter coming out of halftime, the national champions took a tight hold of the final quarter, outscoring the visitors 23-7 to earn their 12th consecutive victory by 20 or more points.

The Lancers shot 44.6% from the floor, and picked up 39 rebounds while the visitors were 33.3% and grabbed 41. The Lancers also limited their turnovers to single digits with eight, and claimed 23 points off the Gryphons' 21 turnovers.

Windsor returns to the St. Denis Centre on Saturday for an afternoon game against the Brock Badgers on Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. and the game will be available live at GoLancers.TV.
