Lien Phillip collected a season-best 26 points and 15 rebounds, and the Windsor Lancers men's basketball topped the Laurier Golden Hawks 88-79 on Wednesday evening.
The St. Mark's, Grenada native was a formidable 10-for-15 from the floor, and added three steals and three blocks in 31 minutes of court-time to help the Lancers start off their 2014 conference schedule on a positive note. Phillip now has seven double-doubles on the season, recording his fourth in a row against Laurier.
Enrico Diloreto dropped 22 points for the Lancers (7-4), while
Rotimi Osuntola Jr. and
Khalid Abdel-Gabar added 14 and 12 respectively in the victory, as the men shot a strong 47.8% from the field compared to 37.6% from the Golden Hawks.
Laurier was led by Will Coulthard who tallied 26 points in a losing cause. Windsor outrebounded the home team 48-42 and strung together a 31-point final period to claim their seventh conference victory and stay just one game back of the division-leading McMaster Marauders, who topped Brock on Wednesday night to move to 8-3.
Windsor will travel to Hamilton on Saturday afternoon to battle for the West division lead with the Marauders. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m., and the game will be available live online

The men return to the St. Denis Centre next week, as they host Guelph and Brock on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.
