The Lancer women's hockey team closed out the first half of their schedule with a 2-1 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Sunday afternoon in Oshawa, ON.
 
With the win, the Lancers enter the holiday break with a 9-2-3 record and in third place in the OUA standings.
 
Tied 1-1 midway through the third period, rookie forward Shailyn Waites found herself unmarked in front of the net and was able to slip one past UOIT's Tori Campbell for the game-winning goal.
 
With seven minutes to go, UOIT's Sam Forchielli had a breakaway opportunity to level the score. The Ridgeback winger was able to beat Kozovski, but the puck ended up deflecting just going over the net as the Lancers remained in front.
 
Fifth year senior Candace Kourounis scored the Lancers first goal early in the second period, her seventh of the year. Mariah Wilson scored the Ridgebacks lone marker of the game.
 
Marissa Kozovski ended the game with 15 saves for Windsor, as she finishes the semester with a record of 7-5-0 with a 2.02 goals against average.
 
The Lancers will now break until January 9th when they travel to Laurentian.
