Box Score WATERLOO, Ont.- The Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team recorded an impressive come-from-behind 3-2 victory (24-26, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 15-10) over the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday evening at the Physical Activities Complex, securing a plus .500 record for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
Fifth-year senior
Kaila Seguin had a monster evening, recording a game-high 20 kills while working at a .237 hitting efficiency. The veteran outside has had an outstanding season in her final year of eligibility ranking first in Ontario and 6th overall in the nation in kills with 265. She also ranks second in the conference and ninth in the CIS with 3.49 kills per set and second in the OUA and seventh in the country with an average of 4.1 points per set.
Shannon Dean, Emily McCloskey and
Melissa Smyth all recorded 11 kills for the Lancers (10-9), and
Mackenzie Coyle added nine to help the women overcome a two-set deficit against the Warriors (5-14) who finish the year last in the OUA West Division.
Danielle Lenarduzzi totalled 56 set assists for Windsor (10-9) who had already secured third-place in the division heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
Danielle Kamps led the Warriors with 15 kills in a losing cause. The hosts recorded a .236 kill-percentage compared to .326 from the Lancers.
The Lancers will travel to Hamilton, Ont. next weekend to battle the second-seeded McMaster Marauders (13-6) in the first round of the OUA post-season with a ticket to the OUA Final Four weekend up for grabs. This will also be the first taste of playoff action for Windsor since they made their Cinderella run to the national championships in 2005-06, clinching an OUA banner in the process.
