Jim Hunter, Head Coach of the Windsor Lancers Women's Hockey team is pleased to announce that senior defensemen Kayla Dodson has been named the new team captain for the upcoming 2014-15 season.

A native of Windsor, Ontario, Dodson is entering her fifth and final season of eligibility with the Lancers. She previously has served as an assistant captain with the team.

Widely considered to be one of the top defenders in the OUA, Kayla was named a conference all-star in 2013-14 after registering 14 points in 24 games to rank 4th in the OUA and 6th in the CIS amongst defensemen in scoring.

Throughout her CIS career, she has registered 7 goals, 28 assists and 35 points in 102 games.

Coach Hunter believes Kayla will be an outstanding captain for the Lancers.

"We are very pleased to name Kayla as our new team captain for the upcoming season," commented Coach Hunter. "She is an experienced and respected senior student-athlete who will serve as a great leader for our team going forward. Much like our previous captains, she is a great representative of our women's hockey program and someone our younger players can look up to."
