Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 3 Lancers split weekend games at home

The No. 3 Lancer men's soccer team split their weekend home series against the Guelph Gryphons and Brock Badgers.

On Friday, Windsor broke their seven game win streak with a 5-2 loss to Guelph before rebounding on Saturday with a strong 4-0 win over Brock at Alumni Field.

Heading into Thanksgiving, Windsor is 10-2-1 on the season and remains in first place in the OUA west division, two points ahead of the York Lions.

Guelph was able to find the weaknesses in the Lancer defense early on Friday and built an early 2-0 lead just 18 minutes into the contest.

In the second half, the Gryphons built a three goal lead in the 65th minute before Jack Sargent knocked a cross into the middle of the 18-yard box behind Gryphon goalie Braden Taylor to get the Lancers on the board two minutes later.

Guelph retaliated with a pair of goals from brothers Tomasz and Jace Skublack before Mike Pio closed out the scoring for Windsor.

On Saturday against the Badgers, Windsor looked like an entirely different team dominating Brock from start to finish.

Jamar Redhead opened the scoring in the 31st minute. Rookie Noah Pio beat the Badger defenders to bring the ball into the 18-yard box and send a pass over to Redhead who was left open by the Brock defense.

Windsor built a two goal lead just two minutes later when Leighton Speechley-Price scored his CIS leading 11th goal of the year with some fancy footwork down the field and through the visiting defense.

The second half was all Iyowuna Jumbo as he scored both goals for the Blue & Gold to secure the 4-0 victory. Kyle Vizirakis earned the win in net, registering his ninth shut-out of the season.

Windsor will now travel to Waterloo to face the Waterloo Warriors and Laurier Golden Hawks next weekend on the road.
