In their final road game of the regular season, the Lancer Football team fell 41-27 to the No. 7 Guelph Gryphons.

With the loss, the Lancers are now 1-6 heading into their final home game against Waterloo next Saturday. The Gryphons improve to 6-1 on the year and are in second place in the OUA standings.

Tarrence Crawford finished the game with 196 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, while
Jaydon Gauthier ran for 79 yards and one touchdown.
Liam Putt and
Casey Wright shared the quarterback duties, with Casey leading the way with 41 yards in the air.

Defensively,
Matt Gayer led the way with 8 total tackles, and continues to lead the CIS in that category with 48.5. Overall, the Windsor defense was on fire holding the Gryphons to just 115 rushing yards on 25 attempts.

The Lancers opened the game with a 93-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead over the Gryphons less than a minute into the contest. Crawford ran the ball one-yard into the end zone for his first of two touchdowns on the day.

From there, the Gryphons built up a 34-7 lead midway through the second quarter. On the final play of the half, Windsor's
Jaydon Gauthier ran 50-yards into the end zone to bring the Lancers into double-digits and start a comeback that would build into the fourth quarter.

The Lancer defense continued to shut down the Gryphons as Windsor continued to chip away at the Guelph lead. Halfway through the quarter, Crawford ran his second TD of the day into the end and was followed by two 30+ field goals by
Anthony Malandruccolo to bring the Lancers within six points.

However, two missed catches in the end zone and another Guelph touchdown would halt the Lancer comeback and give the Gryphons the win.

Windsor will now host the Waterloo Warriors in their final regular season home game next Saturday at Alumni Field. The game is part of the OUA Tackles Breast Cancer initiative and fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause. Game time is set for 1:00pm and can be seen live on oua.tv and TVCogeco Windsor.
