The Lancer men's volleyball team dropped a pair of road games this weekend with a set of loses to the Waterloo Warriors and No. 1 McMaster Marauders.
Â
Windsor fell 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 17-25, 23-25) to the Warriors on Friday night and 3-0 (18-25, 17-25, 15-25) to the top ranked Marauders on Saturday at the Burridge Gym.
Â
With the losses, Windsor holds a 1-7 record and sits in second last place in the OUA standings.
Â
Against the Warriors, the two teams split the first two sets before the Warriors came out on top in the third and fourth sets to take the win.
Â
The Lancers were led by fifth year
Josh Edwards with 15 kills and 16.5 points and
John Moate with 9 kills and 10.5 points. Defensively, Matthew De Benito had 9 kills, while Blasé Wasser and
Shawn Reaume each had eight.
Â
After dropping the first set on Saturday, the Lancers played the Marauders to a neck-and-neck battle for much of the second. Â However, in the end, the Marauders came out on top and used their skill and experience to take the second and third sets.
Â
Reaume led the Blue & Gold that night with 7 kills.
** In December 2015, the Waterloo Warriors forfeited their win against Windsor as a result of playing an ineligible athlete.Â
Â
The Lancers will close out the first half of their season with a pair of home games at the St. Denis Centre. Windsor will host the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night at 7:00pm and the Ryerson Rams on Saturday at 8:00pm.Â
